I Can’t Put My Phone Down!
Have you ever caught yourself saying “I can’t put my phone down!” Our electronic devices are amazing tools, but they can also be a huge source of distraction. As leaders, we want to put our time and energy in the places we need it most and our phones often keep us from doing that. In this video, we give you three strategies you can apply to get your phone working for you, instead of you working for your phone.
The conventional wisdom is to just shut your phone off or to delete all of your apps. This sounds like great advice but might not be very practical if you use your phone to communicate with your team, your customers, or other important strategic partners. It is critical for us to be able to respond to people in a timely manner. If you engage and communicate directly with your customers and fans through social media you, or someone on your team, needs to be monitoring that channel. Without our phones we could exacerbate an emergency or miss out on an important sale.
In the video we go into detail on how to apply three different strategies for making your phone work for you:
- Do an attention audit
- Make time and space
- Get some help!
Each of these strategies is helpful on its own, but they work best when they are all used together. Watch the whole video to learn how you can apply these strategies so that you’re putting your attention at the right place at the right time!
